Salinas to approve eight more commercial cannabis permits

The city of Salinas announced Friday it is making eight commercial cannabis business permits available for applications.

The city’s Community Development Department will accept applications between this coming Monday and Oct. 28, with three permits available for cultivation, three for distribution, one for a dispensary and one for manufacturing.

There are currently 15 active commercial cannabis permits in Salinas that have generated more than $1 million in tax revenue for the city since it last accepted applications in 2017.

At the end of the application period, Salinas has a Cannabis Selection Committee that will review and rate the applicants and make a recommendation to the Community Development Department, according to the city.
