Oakland police arrest 13-year-old SF shooting suspect

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with an Aug. 20 shooting near Market and Sixth streets in San Francisco.

Surveillance footage of the incident led the Oakland Police Department to identify and arrest the 13-year-old male Wednesday. Authorities have not released his identity due to his age.

A fight broke out and shots were fired on the 1000 block of Market Street, according to San Francisco police. Nearby surveillance video shows three suspects running across Market Street with one firing a gun into a crowd of people and another assaulting an unknown victim. Cell phone footage also captured the shooting scene.

Police announced the arrest of the first two suspects Monday. As was the case with the third suspect, Lerron Simpson, 18, and Elijah Ernest, 21, were both identified as Oakland residents based on surveillance footage and taken into custody by OPD. Officers located a gun during the course of the arrest.

Simpson and Ernest were both on suspicion of attempted murder and other gun-related charges, police said.
