The end of an era in Oakland sparks the beginning of a new era, just across the Bay Bridge. After the Warriors lost the 2019 NBA Finals to cap their 57-year tenure in Oakland, the completion of their new arena has the Bay Area buzzing about Chase Center.
The arena officially began construction on January 17, 2017, a two-year and seven-month process that will be finished just in time for Warriors preseason basketball, beginning October 5.
Arguably one of the most impressive aspects of Chase Center is the enormous, record-breaking, video board that sits directly over the court. To say that the Warriors new video board is big, would be an understatement. The 82-foot, 9-inch x 52-foot, 8-inch video board consisting of more than 24 million pixels and 74 million LEDs is the largest in the NBA, and by a very wide margin.

In addition to the massive video board inside the arena, Chase Center dawns another massive video board outside, in the Thrive City Plaza. The dimensions of that video board are 74 feet wide and 43 feet high and covers roughly 3,108 square feet.
If you are looking to host an event, entertain a large group, conduct business, or relax with some of the most lavish amenities Chase Center has to offer, there is a place for all of it. Starting from standard bowl seats, the experience just gets better and better from there.
Theater box suites – You and up to three guests can enjoy a private table in one of the total 60 theater boxes that run across the second level of the arena. With dining tables for four people, theater-style seating, all-inclusive food, and complimentary beer and wine, the theater box suites offer guests a premier, private dining experience.

Modelo Cantina – Sitting high above the arena floor, the Modelo Cantina is a mingling spot for everyone. A premium seating option that specializes in drinks, has walkup bars open to anybody. Season ticket plans are available in the Cantina, as well as the opportunity to host private events.
Club suites – The club suites at Chase Center are your more typical arena-style suites. A private room with dining tables, sectional couches, high-top tables, plenty of counter space, opens up to a balcony-style row of seats that overlook the arena floor.
Courtside lounges – The crown jewel of the Chase Center suite experience. The courtside lounge is a private bunker under the lower bowl of seats and is hands-down the most impressive premium seating option.
As you walk in, the first thing you will notice is a massive wall of screens that shows a live feed of the court in real-time. An alternative angle to watching a game, it almost feels like a virtual reality experience, even though it is just feet from the actual court. A 500-square foot room with access to a block of seats reserved near the floor, the courtside lounge is equipped with a private butler and endless amounts of food and drink. The suite features a full bar, an extra-long dining table, couches, and a shared wine vault. The package includes 12 to 16 tickets available for seats in the lower bowl.
The Warriors’ former home, Oracle Arena, was beloved by players, coaches and fans alike. An overall great entertainment experience for many years, there was a lot to love. One of the knocks on Oracle Arena was the food. With only one kitchen in the entire arena, the food service was underwhelming, to put it nicely.
Chase Center is equipped with eight kitchens, compared to Oracle Arena’s one. A complete overhaul of the food and beverage experience will have Chase Center’s dining experience as a night and day difference from that at Oracle.
Featuring food from all over the Bay Area, Chase Center has partnered with Bon Appetit Management Company and Levy to deliver some of the best Bay Area food and beverage options.

The brand-new arena in San Francisco will offer many means of transportation for guests attending Warriors home games, as well as the other combined 200 events planned per year at Chase Center. Located just down the street from Oracle Park, where the San Francisco Giants play, nearby parking lots are few and far between for fans attending games at both venues.
BART has been a staple of transportation in the Bay Area for decades. Warriors, Athletics, and Giants fans have been using BART for attending sporting events since its implementation into the Bay Area, and Chase Center will be no different – kind of.
Thanks to a partnership with the City of San Francisco and San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, guests will have free access to the Muni line that will drop you off directly in front of the arena. With the purchase of any event ticket to Chase Center, your ticket will serve as a free, round-trip ticket for the Muni Metro. Though BART does not have a direct line to Chase Center, as it did for Oracle Arena, the free round trip on Muni that comes in the form of your ticket will be a convenient perk for those who travel by light rail, which there will be many. In addition to the BART to Muni access, Caltrain stations will within a long walk to the arena.
Just as Oracle Park is known for, Chase Center will offer ferry access directly to the arena at 16th Street, starting at the end of 2021. In the meantime, a ferry landing will be available at Pier 48.
If you’ve driven by, or around, Chase Center you may have noticed very few parking lots. That is because the three-story parking lot for Chase Center is located underneath the arena, and will contain 950 on-site parking stalls, which includes 29 car charging spaces. In addition to the on-site parking, there are a couple of thousand additional parking spaces located within a half-mile of Chase Center. Public transportation is recommended.
One unique mode of transportation embraced by Chase Center are bicycles. Chase Center will be one of the country’s most bicycle-friendly arenas, offering more than 300 permanent bike valet parking spaces, which are adjacent to multiple bike paths. In addition to these forms of transportation, Chase Center will be working with rideshare operators in a plan to make picking up and dropping off as seamless as possible.
Photos and videos were not allowed in the Warriors locker room and training facility, but rest assured, it was nothing short of impressive. Leaving the arena floor, players walk downstairs into the training facility that puts your local 24-Hour Fitness to shame. If you are an NBA player or an athlete in general, every piece of equipment imaginable can be found down in the training facility. Previously, the Warriors practice facility was seperate from Oracle Arena atop the Oakland Convention Center in Downtown Oakland. At Chase Center, their facility is on-site, just mere feet from the locker room. A full basketball court inside of their training facility allows Chase Center to be the epicenter of everything Warriors basketball. The locker room, which is in the training facility, is a beautiful, circular room with glass cases displaying players lockers, resembling a display case you would find at the Basketball Hall Of Fame.
Thrive City is the Chase Center multipurpose complex in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood. Stretching over 3.2 acres, Thrive City is accessible to the public with two office buildings (more than 580,000 square feet of office space) and dozens of unique restaurants and stores. Thrive City will also feature a 10,000 square foot Warriors Shop located in the plaza.

Thrive City and Chase Center is expected to generate more than $14 million each year in tax revenues to The City, which will go towards services and improvements to the area.
Thrive City and Chase Center will trigger the creation of a 5.5-acre public park on the water, across from the arena. In addition to the park, Thrive City’s purpose is to promote year-round health and wellness programs, including Get Fit clinics, Yoga, farmers markets, ice skating and more.
Chase Center opens for its first live event on September 6, when Metallica kicks off the grand opening of the new arena. Following the 80’s rock band, Chase Center hosts a number of big names, and we’re not talking about basketball.
Chase Center, along with Thrive City, has a chance to be one of the nation’s best sports and entertainment experiences. The arena itself is beautiful, state of the art, and just flat-out impressive. Thrive City will bring a unique shopping and dining experience to an area that needs it.

With only two weeks until the first event at Chase Center, and less than six until the Warriors play preseason basketball at their new home, the Warriors are just about ready to move into their new San Francisco home.
