Emergency crews extricate driver of Marsh Creek solo crash

One person was transported to a trauma center by hospital after a solo crash near the Round Valley Regional Preserve west of Byron late Sunday night, according to the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District. Emergency crews responded at 11:26 p.m. to Marsh Creek Road just east of Deer Valley Road, where a vehicle had gone off the roadway.

They closed the road in both directions, extricated the victim from the vehicle and loaded that person onto a helicopter, but an update on the victim’s condition was not available Monday morning.

No one else was injured, but the vehicle sustained major damage and PG&E was called to the scene to assess damage to a utility pole. Firefighters say the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
