Police seek public help to find fatal hit-and-run driver

San Francisco police are seeking the public’s help to find a driver who fled after fatally striking a pedestrian in the Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood earlier this month.

The hit-and-run incident occurred at approximately 11:56 p.m. on Aug. 4.

Police were called to Carroll Avenue and Arelious Walker Drive and found a 59-year-old male found in the middle of the street. The victim was treated at the scene by the the San Francisco Fire Department before he was transferred to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

The medical examiner found the victim, identified as Bruce Romans, sustained injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. According to police, Romans was 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighed 153 pounds and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a dark jacket.

The SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit hopes someone may have seen the victim on the night of the collision or noticed an erratic driver in the area and can provide additional information.
