Crews contain overnight Hanns Park fire after evacuations

A four-alarm, 10-acre vegetation fire in the north side of Hanns Park in Vallejo spread to nearby residences on Tuesday evening. The fire was reported at about 5:50 p.m. Most of the 20 homes in the area of Creekview Drive were evacuated and two of them sustained exterior fire damage and interior smoke damage, Vallejo Fire Department spokesman Kevin Brown said. Residents returned home around 9 p.m.

The fire Tuesday evening also burned a fence line behind five or six homes and a boat at one residence, Brown said. There were no injuries but one woman reported difficulty breathing.

Cal Fire aircraft made three drops of fire retardant, and firefighters from Fairfield, Benicia, Crockett and American Canyon provided mutual aid, Brown said.

Hanns Park is located south of Redwood Parkway and east of Interstate Highway 80. Brown said firefighters responded to a fire in a homeless encampment in the south part of Hanns Park about three weeks ago.
