Nearly 13 years later, police still search for SF teen’s killers

Police are still searching for suspects in a shooting that took the life of San Francisco teenager more than a decade ago.

Aubrey Abrakasa, 17, was shot and killed Aug. 14, 2006 at the intersection of Baker and Grove streets. Wednesday marks the 13th anniversary of Abrakasa’s death.

According to Abrakasa’s mother, Paulette Brown, who has consistently retold the story to the San Francisco Police Commission and various media outlets, her son was leaving her home in the Western Addition and headed to work as youth counselor in Bernal Heights.

It is reported that grew suspicious of a car speeding toward the area and warned others in the area to, “Run!” Abrakaska was shot multiple times in front of a preschool at the intersection.

The San Francisco Police Department believes the shooting was gang-related, but stress that Abrakasa was not a member of any gang. SFPD has since offered a $250,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect(s).

Brown will be at Baker and Grove streets Wednesday at 3 p.m. to hold a memorial and pass out flyers to the public, as she has done every year since her son’s death.
