West Oakland shooting leaves one dead, one injured

Police are investigating a shooting in West Oakland late Monday night that left one person dead and another injured.

Officers responded at 11:23 p.m. to the 1100 block of 24th Street to reports of gunshots and found a male and female, both Oakland residents, who had suffered gunshot wounds, according to police.

The victims were taken to a hospital and the male victim succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been released. The female victim was listed in stable condition as of Tuesday morning, police said.
