Danville police are reminding the public that streets downtown will be closed to traffic Sunday for the first of two Hot Summer Sundays classic car shows from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The family-friendly show will feature classic and current custom cars, food and music.
Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and Linda Mesa Avenue will be closed until 11 a.m. to allow staging.
Roads closed until 5 p.m. include Hartz between Linda Mesa Avenue and School Street; Diablo Road between Hartz and Rose Street; Prospect Avenue between the Clock Tower municipal parking lot entrance and Front Street; Church Street between Railroad Avenue and the Village Theatre municipal parking lot; and Hartz Avenue northbound from Hartz Way to School Street.
Drivers may use Railroad Avenue or Front Street as alternate routes through downtown and to reach public parking lots, police say, noting the motorists should also be aware of heavy pedestrian traffic in the area. During the event, free parking will be available with no time restrictions in municipal parking lots surrounding the venue. Streets will reopen no later than 5 p.m., police say.
