Contra Costa County supes take applications for juvenile justice council

Applicants are being sought for two open seats on the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors has announced.

According to a news release:

The council “is a multi-agency advisory body charged with creating and maintaining the county’s comprehensive Juvenile Probation Consolidated Annual Plan and coordinating county-based juvenile delinquency prevention initiatives.”

The annual plan is used in assessing existing practices and resources, identifying system needs and gaps, and prioritizing and recommending solutions to improve services for the county’s juvenile justice population.

The county is seeking two members of community-based organizations to serve two-year terms on the council.

The final day to submit an application is Aug. 16.

Applicants will be interviewed by supervisors John Gioia and Federal Glover, and their nominations will then be forwarded to the full Board of Supervisors.

In a news release, Gioia said:

“We value diversity, inclusion and racial equity in Contra Costa County, and we welcome interest from representatives of community based organizations across our county who want to serve the community in the cause of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention.”

Applications can be obtained by calling (925) 335-1900, or online at http://www.contracosta.ca.gov/3418/.

Applications should be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, Room 106, County Administration Building, 651 Pine Street, Martinez, CA 94553, or emailed to ClerkoftheBoard@cob.cccounty.us.
