Paul Matthew Garcia, 29, of Santa Cruz, and Allison Nault, 22, of unincorporated Brookdale, were arrested at a Santa Cruz, Calif. hotel July 15, 2019 on suspicion of eight felonies ranging from methamphetamine possession to having a firearm as a felon. Deputies seized more than $100,000 worth of narcotics, more than $9,000 cash, packing materials and a handgun.
Two people were arrested Monday at a hotel in Santa Cruz with more than $100,000 worth of narcotics, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
Paul Matthew Garcia, 29, of Santa Cruz, and Allison Nault, 22, of unincorporated Brookdale, were arrested on suspicion of eight felonies ranging from methamphetamine possession to having a firearm as a felon. Deputies located the pair at a hotel in the 1700 block of Soquel Avenue in Santa Cruz at about noon.
Nault was on probation and deputies had a warrant for Garcia’s arrest. Garcia was arrested as he tried to get into his vehicle, and Nault was found hiding inside the room, according to the sheriff’s office.
Inside the room, deputies found cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, prescription pills and marijuana, in addition to more than $9,000 in cash, scales, packing materials and a loaded handgun.
In a statement, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Jim Hart said:
“Methamphetamine and heroin are wreaking havoc in our community,”
“These drugs are tearing families apart and contributing to the escalating mental health crisis that we are experiencing.”
Garcia and Nault are being held at the county jail with bail set at $250,000 each.
