Livermore High student who died after being shot outside Taco Bell identified

A teen who was fatally shot outside a fast food restaurant in Livermore last week was identified by police on Tuesday as 16-year-old Emmanuel Moseby of Livermore.

According to police, Moseby got into an argument with 21-year-old Jorge Luis Tellez of Livermore near the Taco Bell restaurant at 985 E. Stanley Blvd. shortly before 9:25 p.m. on July 8 and Tellez then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him.

Moseby, a at Livermore High School student and a member of its junior varsity football team, was rushed to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He succumbed to his injuries early the next morning, police said.

Tellez fled the scene and is still at large, police said. Livermore police ask anyone who has information about the shooting or Tellez’s whereabouts to call their tip line at (925) 371-4790. A GoFundMe website that aims to raise $20,000 for Moseby’s funeral service and for scholarships for fellow students had raised $14,800 as of 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The people who set up the fundraiser said Moseby’s nickname was “Ace” and described him as “a brother, son and a great friend who was loved by many.”

A friend of Moseby wrote on the fundraiser’s website:

“Emmanuel was a phenomenal person. His spirit was a beautiful and brilliant one.”

She added:

“He was determined to be his best at all times. He was smart and inquisitive, honest and loving. … My heart is broken and there has not been a day I have not been racked with tears and grief. His spirit will transcend, but while he is still earthbound I’m screaming I love you!”
