Part of Shattuck Avenue closes to traffic for street festival

Motor traffic and bus routes are being detoured off the city’s downtown commercial corridor for the seventh annual Sunday Streets Berkeley, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Shattuck will be closed to vehicle traffic on Shattuck Avenue between University and Durant avenues starting at 10 a.m. for the free family event that will feature strolling, bicycling, dining, live entertainment, recreation and activities for all ages, including pets.

Featured events will include a Pet Parade, performers at the Cornerfest at Cornerstone craft beer at Durant, Bastille Day, arts and crafts, street food, dance performances, games and community booths.

Organizers said:

“Everyone from businesses and community organizations to musicians and artists use the space creatively, engaging the public and providing spontaneity and discovery.”

Shattuck will reopen to motor traffic at 6 p.m.
