Sixteen couples can tie the knot at John Muir National Historic Site

The Contra Costa County Clerk is offering destination weddings at the 170-year-old John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez in August, and reservations are available online.

Friday, Aug. 16, from 10:20 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., up to 16 couples will have the chance to get married fast and cheap.

The ceremony itself costs $60 and a marriage license can be obtained for about $90. There’s additional paperwork, however, and just over a month to get everything in order. Anyone interested should call (925) 335-7900.

If Aug. 16 is too soon, don’t worry. The county will offer another destination wedding event for Valentines Day 2020 at the historic California Theatre in Pittsburg.
