Teen victim, suspect among three injured in Watsonville shooting

Three people, including a suspect, were taken to a hospital following a shooting in Watsonville Monday evening, according to police.

A teenage girl was the youngest victim in the shooting reported just after 7 p.m. in the 600 block of Rodriguez Street. Officers arrived on the scene to find the girl, a man in his 40s and the suspect — whose name hasn’t been released — all suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police said the victims and suspect all suffered wounds not considered life-threatening. The suspect is believed to be the only person who was in possession of a firearm.

The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute between neighbors on the second floor of an apartment building.

The suspect will be booked into Santa Cruz County Jail once he is released from the hospital.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Watsonville police at (831) 471-1151.
