Martinez considers 10-acre Dunivan annexation

The Martinez City Council is expected to vote Wednesday night on whether to begin the annexation process for a 10-acre parcel in Alhambra Valley, south of the city, into Martinez.

The parcel, at 1030 Vaca Creek Road, is a long and narrow property owned by the Dunivan Family Trust. It is surrounded on three sides by the city.

The annexation, under discussion for several years, would also require moving the Urban Limit Line, outside of which urban development becomes more difficult. The city contends that because the property is developed with one large single-family residence — an exempt facility under the California Environmental Quality Act — and because no additional development is proposed as part of the annexation action, that it should be a reasonable annexation.

Martinez city staff is recommending the City Council approve amending the Urban Limit Line to include 1030 Vaca Creek Road and make other approvals leading to annexation.
