Authorities identify 20-year-old as man killed in I-880 crash

A 20-year-old man killed in a crash on southbound Interstate Highway 880 on Friday has been identified as Braxton Kiester of Fremont, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office.

The crash was reported at 7:49 p.m. just south of Dixon Landing Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The CHP has not shared further details about the circumstances surrounding the collision. Kiester attended John F. Kennedy High School and the University of Nevada, Reno, according to his Facebook profile. He played football in high school and was a Pittsburg Steelers fan.

After his death, one person wrote on Facebook:

“You were kind and raw and good and outgoing and bright and supportive and warm and brilliant and hilarious and had aspects about you that I will always envy.”

She added:

“You left a mark on every single person you met. You were magnetic, magnificent, the type of person I will never have the privilege to experience again in this life time.”
