Oakland police warn of phone scam from person claiming to be officer

Someone is calling people claiming to be from the Oakland Police Department’s youth services division and asking for money in a scam, police said Friday.

The caller is calling from (510) 238-3641, impersonating an Oakland police officer and asking for money to remove the recipient from a call list.

Police said this is a scam and police will not ever call someone and ask for money.
