Search is on for second suspect in officer-involved shooting

Hayward police were searching mid-Tuesday morning for a suspect connected to an officer-involved shooting earlier in the day. Sgt. Ryan Sill said officers were searching in Oakland in the area of Bancroft Avenue and Link Street for the suspect who they presume is armed.

Hayward police responded initially at 12:45 a.m. to a call in the 2500 block of West Winton Avenue where officers opened fire. From there a pursuit ensued into Oakland. One suspect is in custody and a search is on for one or more others, Sill said. Police said no officers or residents were injured in the shooting.
