The Contra Costa County coroner’s office has identified a woman fatally struck by a freight train Saturday evening in Martinez as 32-year-old Liliana Alum.
Alum, a Martinez resident, was struck on a BNSF Railway track around 6:20 p.m. in an area that did not have a railroad crossing. The death stopped train traffic between Stockton and Richmond as investigators evaluated the scene, but did not cause delays for commuters as there are no passenger trains on that route.
