County hosts Census workshops to reach hard-to-count communities

Contra Costa County is gearing up for the 2020 Decennial Census and looking for businesses, organizations and agencies serving hard-to-count communities to help ensure every county resident is accounted for. The county is holding a series of Census Solutions workshops starting this weekend so that participants can share insight into their communities to help ensure a complete count and learn about mini-grant programs for outreach efforts.

Census data will determine congressional representation as well as funding for schools, parks, roads and housing, so the Contra Costa County’s Census 2020 Complete Count Steering Committee seeks to ensure the community gets its fair share by facilitating collaboration between with city governments and community partners.

The first workshop goes from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Richmond City Hall, 450 Civic Center Plaza.

There’s another scheduled for June 13 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Brentwood Veterans Memorial Building, 757 First St., in Brentwood and later that day a second workshop will go from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Danville Community Center, 420 Front St.

The county’s last Census Solutions Workshop takes place a week later, June 20, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Willow Pass Community Center in Concord, 2748 E. Olivera Road.
