A car that might be connected to a fatal hit-and-run earlier this week in San Martin was found miles away in Gilroy, according to California Highway Patrol.

An elderly man was killed while crossing Monterey Road, south of Cox Avenue, when he was hit by a car about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in San Martin, an unincorporated area south of Morgan Hill in Santa Clara County. The victim’s name has not been released.

A car possibly involved in the collision, a red 2003 Dodge Neon with windshield and roof damage, was found the next day, abandoned in an industrial area of Gilroy, the CHP said.
