Santa Rita Jail inmate dies in maximum security cell

An inmate at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in Alameda County died Wednesday, according to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies at the jail saw the inmate unresponsive at 4:20 p.m. He was in a locked maximum-security cell.

Life-saving measures were tried but the 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at 5:03 p.m.

Sheriff’s officials said the person had some medical concerns and no foul play is suspected. The name of the man is not being released yet, according to the sheriff’s office.
