Police arrest Fairfield fatal shooting suspect

Fairfield police have arrested a suspect on suspicion of a shooting that killed one person and injured another during a fight late Sunday night.

Police responded just before midnight to a fight and report of shots fired in the 2300 block of North Texas Street. One of the shooting victims, a 30-year-old Fairfield man, was pronounced dead and the other is in critical condition at a hospital, police said.

During the investigation, police learned another person was in a local hospital with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening. Police identified that person as Souljah Corbin, 22, of Fairfield. Corbin was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

The motive for the shooting is under investigation, but it is not believed to be a random act, police said. The deceased man’s identity is not being released pending notification of his next of kin.
