Police activity prompts Bancroft Middle School shelter in place

Bancroft Middle School in San Leandro is sheltering in place Tuesday afternoon because of police activity nearby, according to the San Leandro Unified School District.

District officials wrote on Twitter at 12:45 p.m. that San Leandro police and California Highway Patrol officers requested that the school at 1150 Bancroft Ave. shelter in place because of unspecified police activity a few blocks away at MacArthur Boulevard and Estudillo Avenue. Parents have been notified of the incident. No other information was immediately released.
