Police arrest suspect in kidnapping, sexual assault of 74-year-old woman

Police in San Francisco announced Wednesday they arrested a man last week after he allegedly kidnapped a 74-year-old woman and held her at a house where he sexually assaulted her for hours.

The kidnapping and assault happened on May 10, in the city’s Crocker-Amazon neighborhood, according to police.

The victim was walking to friend’s house when a male suspect forced her into a home and kept her there for hours while he sexually assaulted her, police said.

After the ordeal, the man forced the woman out of the house and left her on the sidewalk a few doors down, according to police. A good Samaritan called 911 and medical personnel transported her to the hospital, police said.

Following an investigation into the assault, officers were able to serve a search warrant Friday at a home in the 1000 block of Prague Street. There, they arrested 47-year-old San Francisco resident Manuel Amador. Officers arrested Amador on suspicion of rape, assault with a deadly weapon, assault likely to cause great bodily injury, kidnapping, kidnapping for ransom, false imprisonment, battery causing serious bodily injury and elder abuse, according to police.

According to jail records, Amador is being held without bail.
