Victim may have had medical emergency prior to fatal crash into highway wall

A man in his mid 30s died after a crash on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Leandro on Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 7:11 a.m. on southbound Highway 880 near the Davis Street off-ramp.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver may have suffered some sort of medical emergency, then crashed into a wall, CHP Officer Manuel Leal.

Emergency responders attempted to perform CPR on the victim but he was pronounced dead, Leal said.
