Coroner identifies Antioch man, 36, as victim in Willow Pass Road shooting

A 36-year-old Antioch man who was fatally shot last week in Pittsburg has been identified as Samijela Vehikite, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office.

Police responding to a report of a shooting in the 1500 block of Willow Pass Road around 10 a.m. on April 22 found Vehikite suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

He was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, but did not survive.

Jason Posey, a Bay Point resident, was arrested while attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle, according to police.

Investigators said Vehikite and Posey knew each other, and that prior to the shooting, Vehikite arrived to confront Posey. They argued for several minutes, then Posey shot the other man in what became the city’s fourth homicide of 2019.
