‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a finale fit for any Marvel hero or heroine

Stan Lee once said in Spider-Man 3:

“You know, I guess one person can make a difference. ‘Nuff said…”

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo (Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War), Avengers: Endgame stars basically everyone from the 21 past Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Unsure what to do after Thanos’ universe-changing and devastating snap in Avengers: Infinity War, the Avengers, or what’s left of them, try to undo what the purple menace did and beat him by any means necessary.

I am by no means a spoiler. This review will cover my basic thoughts, and will not go into any detail about Endgame. I’ll respect the Russo brothers’ wishes.

In 2008, Iron Man changed pop culture as we know it. Endgame concludes, what is now known as, the Infinity Saga, all 22 MCU movies to date.

Endgame is an emotional powerhouse for those who have been right by our heroes’ sides from beginning to end. Hilarious, ambitious and beautiful, this final battle with Thanos is one of cinema’s biggest achievements, despite major plot holes that are either not explained or explained poorly.

Marvel Studios releases films with the intention to entertain millions of comic book fans and film buffs with the best equipment and talent. That said, there are a plethora of nonsense reasons for events to occur and are covered up by moving the story forward. Sometimes it’s forgiven, other times it’s not.

Endgame is forgiven.

Although there are plot holes in many MCU movies, fans and audiences will look the other way if the motive of the movie is clear, and it isn’t apparent in the moment.

Don’t get me wrong, one small plot hole can break a film indefinitely. Still, there are other plot holes that don’t take away much from the experience as a whole.

Think about Avengers: Infinity War last year. Even though we know that all or most of the characters that vanished after Thanos’ snap weren’t truly dead — some actors’ and actresses’ contracts aren’t up yet, or sequels have already been announced — the feeling of seeing Spider-Man turning into dust in Iron Man’s arms doesn’t get any less depressing.

Endgame is the end for some of our heroes, nevertheless. We all know that.

I can’t think of any better send-offs for these characters. The Russo brothers killed it. Walking out of the theater, I was shocked and content at the same time. It’s a bittersweet feeling knowing that the next phase Marvel has set up is going to consist of new characters and less of others.

A little more than 10 years after its start, our Marvel superheroes have gone through drastic character arcs, some more fleshed out than others. Endgame is emblematic to a huge audience, judging from its title of biggest worldwide opening weekend.

Spoilers are never fun to spill to your friend who hasn’t seen it yet. It’s hard for me to talk about this movie without them, to be perfectly frank.

All everyone needs to know is, Endgame is a capstone for the film industry and fandoms all around. It’s a beautiful ending to an epic beginning and a fruitful future.
