Pedestrian killed running across Highway 4

A man was killed Wednesday night on eastbound state Highway 4 in Pittsburg, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials were called at 9:01 p.m. about a collision involving a pedestrian and a white Nissan sedan near Loveridge Road.

The driver of the Nissan was driving east on Highway 4 when the man apparently ran from the center divide into the path of the car. CHP officials said the driver was unable to avoid the man and he was pronounced dead where he was struck.

The driver of the Nissan stopped and cooperated with investigators.
