No residents were injured or displaced in the aftermath of a single-car fire in Antioch on Monday evening, according a Contra Costa County Fire Protection District captain.
The blaze was reported at 5:54 p.m. at a single-family home in the 700 block of West 14th Street, Fire Capt. Steve Aubert said. A resident had just replaced the engine of a vehicle when gas vapors started to leak and then got ignited by the heat of the motor.
“He quickly escaped out of there,” Aubert said.
The fire damaged the garage, but fire crews were able to stop it from spreading into the car in the next bay. Fire officials originally said both cars were involved in the blaze.
The fire was knocked down at 6:06 p.m.
