A Filipino journalist who was named a 2018 Time Magazine Person of the Year will host a panel discussion and news conference at a community center in San Francisco on Monday.
Maria Ressa, who is also the CEO of Rappler.com, will be at the Bayanihan Community Center on Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. to discuss a recent speaking engagement she had with former Florida democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum and democratic strategist James Carville, according to event organizers.
Ressa was recently arrested in the Philippines for what organizers said was her company’s critical reporting of Filipino President Rodrigo Duerte.
The center is located at 1010 Mission Street in San Francisco.
