Petaluma man arrested in connection with DUI hit-and-run

Police in Petaluma on Friday arrested a man in connection with a DUI hit-and-run crash.

Scott Ingerson, 45, of Petaluma, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI.

Officers with the Petaluma Police Department responded shortly after 7 p.m. to North McDowell Boulevard and Rainier Avenue on a report of a crash involving three vehicles.

Responding officers learned a vehicle involved in the crash had struck a Toyota pickup truck stopped at a traffic light.

The pickup truck was pushed into the back of a Volkswagen SUV also stopped at the light.

The vehicle that caused the crash had fled the scene, police said. Police said three children and an adult woman in the SUV complained of pain to their shoulders following the crash, but none of the victims were ultimately taken to the hospital.

Officers searched the area and found Ingerson’s unoccupied Hyundai sedan, which sustained heavy front-end damage, parked blocks away on Lassen Drive.

Officers located Ingerson nearby and arrested him after he tried to run away.

Police said Ingerson showed signs of being impaired, so they conducted a DUI investigation.

A preliminary reading showed he had a blood-alcohol content of .29 percent, well above the legal limit.
