Seaside man pleads guilty to four counts of child molestation

A 48-year-old Seaside man is expected to serve 22 to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of forcible child molestation, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office. Andres Vargas Herrera molested a family member several times when she was 10 to 12 years old, and the victim didn’t report the crimes until years had passed, prosecutors said.

The victim told her mother she was very afraid of Herrera, and prosecutors believe that the crimes occurred when the child’s mother wasn’t home.

A date for Herrera’s official sentencing wasn’t provided.
