Elementary school students compete to be the next ‘Top Chef’

Ten children in the San Jose Unified School District will cook their favorite healthy Mexican food recipe on Tuesday in hopes of winning the ninth annual Sodexo Future Chefs Challenge, school district officials said. Tuesday’s competition, which is the final round of the district’s challenge, will start at 2:30 p.m. at Gunderson High School in San Jose. The 10 finalists who will cook in the contest are among more than 75 third, fourth and fifth-graders who submitted recipes to the district earlier this year.

The winner will be named the school district’s “Top Chef” for 2019 and will be considered for 40 regional finalist awards.
