Four-foot-wide pothole causes street closure in Santa Clara

A pothole has forced the closure of a street that connects with a highway in north Santa Clara on Monday morning, according to police. Lafayette Street between state Highway 237 and Calle De Luna is closed as the city’s water and sewer staff works to repair the 4-foot-wide pothole caused by a break in a 42-inch sewage line, police said.

No sewage has overflowed into the street or storm drains, police said. There is no estimated time of reopening.
