Chaz Montgomery, 25, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, unlicensed sale of a firearm and violation of probation, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier this month, the Contra Costa County Anti-Violence Support Effort Team launched an investigation into a person who was allegedly illegally selling a pistol on the street.
On Tuesday, the suspect, identified as Montgomery, attempted to sell a pistol to an undercover agent, according to the sheriff’s office. Montgomery was arrested without incident, and during a search of his vehicle, agents found a .44 caliber revolver with ammunition. Investigators said it appears the revolver was purchased in another state and brought into California.
