SFPD investigating incident between Giants CEO Larry Baer and wife

The San Francisco Police Department confirmed Friday it is investigating an incident involving San Francisco Giants CEO and Larry Baer and his wife that was caught on video.

“The only statement we have is that we are aware of the incident, and we are investigating,” SFPD officer Joseph Tomlinson said. A video surfaced Friday of Baer in a fight with his wife at a park in Hayes Valley.

The video shows Baer standing and arguing with his wife, who is sitting in a chair and holding a phone and some papers. He grabs the phone and the papers and tries to take them from her, and she falls to the ground and yells.

Baer released a statement Friday that read:
“I am truly sorry for the pain that I have brought to my wife, children and to the organization. It is not reflective of the kind of person that I aspire to be, but it happened, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure that I never behave in such an inappropriate manner again.” Major League Baseball also released a statement Friday:

“Major League Baseball is aware of the incident and, just like any other situation like this, will immediately begin to gather facts. We will have no further comment until this process is completed.”
