The robbery of the Sans Market at 2790 Santa Rosa Ave. occurred around 8 p.m. Police said the robber stole cigarettes and the store’s cash register.
Store employees gave a description of the suspect and his clothing and an officer detained the man a few blocks away. Elias Vega Vega, 25, who lived near the store, was positively identified as the suspect, police said. Police recovered the cash register in bushes between the market and where he was detained, and Vega was in possession of a folding knife and the cigarettes, police said. Vega Vega was arrested and booked in the Sonoma County Jail for robbery.
