SF mayor signs bill to build Eagle Plaza in Western SOMA

Mayor London Breed signed new legislation that will allow the construction of Eagle Plaza in the Western SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco, Mayor Breed announced Friday.

Breed hopes the new public space will serve as a focal point for the Leather and LGBTQ Cultural Heritage District in the city.

“While our federal administration is attempting to erase members of the LGBTQ community, we in San Francisco take pride ion celebrating all those who bring diversity to our city,” said Mayor Breed in a statement.

Eagle Plaza will be located on 12th Street between Harrison and Bernice Streets with open areas for recreations and gatherings, events, and performances.
