Tiburon man arrested for trying to illegally purchase a firearm

A Tiburon man was arrested Tuesday by San Rafael police in connection with trying to illegally purchase a firearm.

Haadi Bolourchi, 27, was arrested on suspicion of trying to purchase a firearm unlawfully and for violation of a court order, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

In early January, San Rafael detectives were notified a man attempted to purchase a firearm in November from a San Rafael sporting goods store.
Police said Bolourchi completed the forms required by the California Department of Justice to purchase the firearm, but the sale was declined during a background check.

The California Department of Justice notified law enforcement about the attempted purchase, and San Rafael detectives learned Bolourchi was prohibited from purchasing a firearm.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bolourchi, and he was arrested near his family’s home in Tiburon without incident.
