Bust nets 2,000 ecstasy pills, weapons

A Santa Rosa man was arrested Monday on suspicion of possessing more than 2,000 ecstasy pills and other drugs that were intercepted at a New York City airport, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

The pills and drugs packaged for street sale were allegedly destined for an address on Delport Avenue in Santa Rosa. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Postal Service worked together with the sheriff’s office to conduct the controlled delivery of the package to Santa Rosa.

When the package arrived, the sheriff’s office secured the Santa Rosa home pending the issuance of a search warrant.

Sheriff’s officials said the seized package contained ecstasy pills, two unregistered Glock pistols, a silencer, ammunition, body armor and more than $1,000 in U.S. currency as well as cocaine, Xanax bars, mushrooms, marijuana and prescription pills.

Martin Smith-Muchmore, 29, of Santa Rosa, a convicted felon, was arrested and booked in the Sonoma County Jail on $100,000 bail.
