Rain will return to the San Francisco Bay Area Friday, beginning along the coast after sunrise before heading inland during the day, National Weather Service officials said Thursday.
The light rain will continue into Friday night and Saturday morning before it stops ahead of a storm Sunday.
Forecasters expect 0.1 to 0.5 inches in urban areas and 0.75 to 1.5 inches on coastal ranges and in the North Bay Mountains.
Up to 2 inches are expected in the wettest areas.
The storm on Sunday will be a bit stronger.
Storm-related winds will be from the south at 15 to 25 mph. Gusts may be as strong as 40 mph and stronger on peaks and ridges, weather officials said.
Winds may down trees and cause power outages, make driving difficult and toss unsecured items around.
The winds are expected to be lighter than last weekend.
More rain is expected next week. The details are uncertain. It appears the rain and winds will be stronger this weekend, possibly causing urban, small stream and creek flooding especially in the North Bay.
The potential exists for minor landslides, rock slides and slumps.
