San Jose collision kills 60-year-old pedestrian

A 60-year-old man was killed Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle on South White Road at Aldo Court in San Jose, police said.

The victim was walking across South White Road, outside a marked crosswalk, from west to east when he was struck around 8:16 p.m. by a Toyota Corolla driven by a 19-year-old woman, said Officer Gina Tepoorten. He was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, Tepoorten said. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The victim has not yet been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office.

This is the city’s 49th fatal collision, 52nd victim and 24th pedestrian fatality of 2018.

Anyone with information on the collision can call Detective Troy Sirmons of the San Jose Police Department’s investigations unit at (408) 277-4654.
