Richmond double shooting leaves one dead

A man killed in a double shooting in Richmond on Tuesday night has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 45-year-old Richmond resident Edgar Chayjocol.

Officers responded at 10:52 p.m. to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system activation in the 2500 block of Andrade Avenue, and while en route a witness called police to report the shooting, police Lt. Matt Stonebraker said.

Officers arrived and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One, Chayjocol, died at the scene while the other was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition as of Wednesday, according to Stonebraker.

No suspect information or possible motive in the shooting has been released by police.
