Vehicle in fatal hit-and-run identified as Honda Fit

Police on Tuesday released more information about a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision last week that killed a 58-year-old woman in San Francisco.

San Francisco resident Teresita Collins died at San Francisco General Hospital following the Dec. 12 collision at Bush and Leavenworth streets.

According to police, investigators have determined the vehicle that fled the collision is a dark-colored 2007 or 2008 Honda Fit.

Investigators believe the car sustained front-end damage and are also asking employees of auto body shops in the area to beware of anyone bringing in a vehicle that fits that description.

Last week, police released surveillance video of the hit-and-run. In the video, the suspect vehicle comes into the frame from the right and then stops. The suspect, who appears to be a female, gets out and walks to the back of her car and appears to look back down toward the intersection, but then returns to the car before driving away.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or suspect is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the start of the message.
