Margin of 386 votes makes Lori Frugoli the next Marin district attorney

Marin County voters elected Lori Frugoli as district attorney by only a few hundred votes, according to final election returns that were certified Friday.

Frugoli, 61, a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office, defeated Anna Pletcher, 44, a former lawyer with the U.S. Department of Justice in San Francisco, by 386 votes. Frugoli tallied 50.07 percent and Pletcher had 49.73 percent of the vote.

Pletcher was not immediately available for comment this morning, but Marin County Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts said she has not received a request for a recount of the results in writing. Any voter in the county has five days after the results are certified to request a recount, Roberts said.

The final tally will be reported to the Secretary of State by Thursday and will be ratified by the Marin County Board of Supervisors on Dec. 11.

Voter turnout in Marin County for the November election was 82.44 percent, 22 percent higher that the 2014 midterm election, Roberts said.

There were only 10,000 fewer votes in the November election than the 2016 presidential election, she said.
