Stephen Curry’s return could come as soon as Thursday

Stephen Curry will be a “full-go” at Warriors practice Tuesday, according to Steve Kerr, and could return to the floor Thursday.

Curry, whose 29.5 points per game are good enough for second in the NBA, has been inactive since suffering a groin strain on Nov. 8. Since, the Warriors (14-7) have gone 4-5, including the first four game-game losing streak in Kerr’s coaching career.

The two-time MVP practiced Monday, Kerr said before Monday’s game:

Steph looked good. Totally dominated the film crew, they couldn’t guard him. … All in all, it was a successful venture.”

He added that Curry is at the point in his rehab process where he is just in search of rhythm and conditioning.

If all goes well Tuesday, Curry would likely be available Thursday when the Warriors face the Eastern Conference-leading Raptors (17-4) — against whom he has averaged 29.8 points and 8.1 assists in 16 career games — in Toronto.

Curry is not the only All-Star Golden State is currently without.

Draymond Green (toe) is nearing a return as well, though his status in Canada remains uncertain. Said Kerr:

He was not on the floor. He’s still doing conditioning on the bike and will continue to be day-to-day. He needs to be on the court for at least a few days before he’s ready to play.

The head coach added that the hope is, the 2016-17 Defensive Player of the Year will return at some point during the upcoming five-game road trip. The same is true of breakout rookie Alfonzo McKinnie.

Though it is far from bleak, the news regarding first-year Warrior center Demarcus Cousins is not as positive.

Cousins, who signed with Golden State while rehabbing a torn achilles during the offseason, was intent on returning to the floor by the end of the 2018 calendar year. While he has ramped up his rehab process, that appears more and more unlikely.
