Santa Rosa voters reject affordable housing bond measure

Santa Rosa voters rejected Measure N, a $124 million bond sale for affordable housing for low- and middle-income families.

Measure N needed two-thirds approval and got only 58.8 percent, according to results from all 112 precincts early this morning.

Proponents cited the loss of nearly 3,000 homes in the October 2017 wildfires and the lack of affordable housing for veterans, seniors, first-time buyers and working families.

Santa Rosa voters however did approve Measure O, a quarter-cent sales tax hike for general city services in the wake of the wildfires that reduced the city budget’s 15 percent reserve fund to 4 percent.
