The Balboa Park BART station reopened around 11:30 a.m. after the transit agency reported a major medical emergency at around 9:14 a.m.
Jim Allison, spokesperson for BART said a man’s leg was stuck between the train and the platform at the Balboa Park station. The San Francisco Fire Department was able to extricate the man, who was rushed to San Francisco Zuckerberg General Hospital.
During the medical emergency, the station was closed while the transit system was running on a single track through the area.
Allison said the BART Police Department is investigating the incident.
Passengers can expect up to 20 minute delays systemwide due to the incident.
